Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Web3 Security Shield ("the Extension", "we", "our", or "us") handles information when you install or use our Chrome browser extension and related website pages.
Web3 Security Shield is designed with privacy by default. We do not build user profiles, run analytics on extension usage, or transmit data of any kind to remote servers.
The Extension operates entirely inside your browser and writes only a single boolean flag to your local browser storage (
localStorage) for your own preference persistence.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Web3 Security Shield does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, phone number)
- Web browsing history, URLs, or page contents
- MetaMask, wallet, or blockchain transaction data
- Account credentials, passwords, seed phrases, or private keys
- IP addresses, geolocation, or device fingerprints
- Analytics events, telemetry, or crash reports
- Cookies or cross-site tracking identifiers
2. Information Stored Locally In Your Browser
To remember your protection status between browser sessions, the Extension stores only the following piece of data inside your browser's built-in storage:
- Preference flag — a single boolean value indicating whether protection is currently
Enabled or Disabled (
true/false).
This value is stored using the browser's standard localStorage / chrome.storage.local
mechanism and never leaves your device. It is:
- Not synced across browsers or devices
- Not backed up to any cloud or remote server
- Not shared with the Extension developers or any third parties
- Immediately and permanently deleted when you uninstall the Extension
3. Permissions
The Extension requests no special browser permissions. It does not request tab access, site host permissions, browsing history, webRequest, or any other permission that would allow it to observe your browsing activity. The Extension only exposes an action button in the browser toolbar.
4. First-Install Welcome Page
When the Extension is first installed, it may open a local welcome page in a new tab
(https://metashieldtols.com/welcome) to explain how to use the Extension and how to pin it to
your toolbar. This page is purely informational and contains:
- No tracking scripts
- No third-party analytics
- No advertising cookies or ad networks
- No cookie banners (because no cookies are used)
5. Third-Party Content & External Links
Our pages may include links to third-party websites (for example, the Chrome Web Store listing). We do not control the content or privacy practices of those external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
6. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the Extension collects no personal information at all, no child-specific data handling is required.
7. Your Rights
Because we do not store any personal information, there is no personal user data for us to export, correct, or delete. If you want to remove every trace of the Extension from your device, simply:
- Right-click the Shield icon in your browser toolbar and select Remove from Chrome, or
- Open
chrome://extensionsand click Remove on the Web3 Security Shield card.
Uninstalling the Extension automatically clears the single local preference flag described above.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Any change will be effective immediately upon posting of the revised Privacy Policy on this page.
